31st August marks a very important date for Malaysians. It is when we received our independence in 1957, and since then, we are growing as a country for the better. That is why we celebrate our National Day in a big way, to show our appreciation towards our freedom.

And when we say big, we mean BIG Parades, fireworks, songs, and many more are the way we do it when it comes to our Independence Day. Let us tell you more how we celebrate some things you can buy from ZALORA now.

The first thing you will notice when 31st August is close by is the amount of our country’s flags everywhere. From sticking flags onto the windshield of a car to draping down the flag along buildings to decorating our house exterior with flags and lights, we go all out and proudly wave our flag when our Independence Day comes.

To get into the patriotic spirit, wear clothes in our flag colours which are red, white, yellow, and blue. Mix and match it with these four colours to come up with the best look, then wear them proud wherever you go on that day. Or you could wear a traditional baju kurung that symbolizes our national women’s dress.

In this post-pandemic climate, we doubt there will be any Merdeka parades this year due to health reasons. But not to worry because you can always throw your own intimate Merdeka party at home with your loved ones.

Put on a local movie that showcases patriotism, blast Merdeka songs, play a pop quiz revolving around historic events that led to our independence, and do many more fun activities you can do together.

Expect lots of visitors to the National Museum because this is the time parents would want to educate their kids about the country’s independence. The National Museum in Kuala Lumpur is house to Malaysian history which is a good place to go visit during our Independence Day.

How do you celebrate National Day?
