It is almost the end of the year, and as Deepavali celebration is just around the corner, we are proud to feature a stunning yet talented young lady who is whipping up a storm in the modelling industry. Being a fresh new face in the modelling world in Malaysia, Chandni Bainz definitely is a model to look out for especially as she landed a gig in India too! She exudes inner and outer beauty while still being humble altogether. Read our exclusive interview with her down below to get to know Chandni at a more personal level.

1.     First and foremost, please give a brief introduction of yourself.

Hello! My name is Chandni and I am 22 years old. I am a full-time model and actress currently. I just graduated from high school and now I am focusing on polishing my talents and skills to be a better performer. I speak 4 languages fluently which are; Punjabi, Malay, English and Hindi. For a living, I do acting, modelling, hosting and even dancing at times. I love being creative because it challenges me in doing my best so I definitely see myself doing this for a long time.

2.     We noticed that you are active in the modelling and acting industry. Please share with us how it all started and made you step into the modelling and acting world.

I started in the industry when I was 11 as a host for an RTM show. I gained a lot of experience and confidence as a young teenager and as a performer.

I chose this path because it was something that I just got into at an early age. My first gig was a catalogue shoot for Mydin at the age of 4. After that, I started going to many auditions when I was around 7/8 years old and I did score some jobs but I remember getting rejected almost 80% of the time. My mother always encouraged and supported me to never give up and I got to learn how to deal with rejection at a very young age.

Also just to be clear, my family never forced me into going for auditions etc. They just saw how much I enjoyed being in front of the camera and tried their best to fulfil my passion. I took a long break after my hosting to focus on my high school for about 3 years. I resumed back at the age of 16 when I started shooting for commercials and shows. So for the past 2 years, even though I was still in school, I could manage my time shooting and studying thanks to my previous ways. For now, I am focusing on acting and modelling full time before I join any University.

3.     We are very proud to see you landing your foot into India with Sunsilk. You must have been so excited. We would love to know how the opportunity came about.

Thank you! It was definitely a very unexpected opportunity that I got. One day I received a phone call from one of the production members and he was explaining to me the whole concept and idea of the shoot. He was explaining that it would be a shoot handled by the team in India over Zoom. Then he asked for my audition and I sent it. After a week or so, I found out that I was selected for the shoot and I was OVER THE MOON! It was really a big deal for me because it was on my bucket list to do an advertisement that would play all around India. Even some of my favourite Bollywood actresses like Priyanka Chopra and Alia Bhatt, who are the ambassador of Sunsilk India have starred in Sunsilk’s commercials so I was grateful to be a part of it.

4.     Describe to us your new normal day-to-day routine since the pandemic hit?

My day-to-day is pretty boring. I am busy watching many shows which is why I sleep very late. I also do chores and help my mum out with them. I am trying to gain more knowledge about many topics since I have nothing else to do. I read books and watch various types of documentaries to learn more.

5.     Describe to us your personality in three words.

cb2.jpg

Ambitious, independent and compassionate.

6.     What is your go-to model off duty look?

A plain black or white top with high waisted pants. I like to pair it with heels or flats along with wearing some simple jewellery and a plain bag. I also love earth tones so I sometimes incorporate that too.

7.     You look stunning in every outfit you have on. Share with us who is/are your fashion inspirations.

cb 1.jpg

Thank you so much! My fashion inspiration comes from many of Victoria’s Secret Models. Models like Taylor Hill, Bella Hadid, Gigi Hadid, Elsa Hosk and Romee Strijd have some of the best street styles so I like to get ideas from them.

8.     High heels? Sneakers? Ballerina flats?

I don’t mind high heels but for maximum comfort, sneakers.

9.     You have flawless natural skin. Share with us your skincare regime.

image6.jpeg

I am very particular about my skincare because I learn a lot about ingredients that are beneficial and ingrd you should stay away from etc. I start by washing my hands with soap before I touch my face. I wash my face with the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser and I massage my face for a minute. After I rinse it off, I use the Mamonde Rose Water toner and apply it all over my face. Then, I use a serum from Caudalie and use the Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve dream cream as a moisturiser. That’s my usual nighttime skincare routine. I also always make sure to wear SPF almost everyday and stay away from the sun.

10.  What is your go-to lipstick shade?

image0.jpeg

Any nude pinkish colour is always my go-to shade.

11.  What is one thing that people would be surprised to know about you?

I was offered a Bollywood Netflix series. Unfortunately, it has been possibly delayed/cancelled due to the travel restrictions caused by the current state of the pandemic at that time. Hopefully, the situation improves and I get the opportunity to be a part of the unnamed project.

12.  If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

To be able to time travel.

13.  Where would be the first place abroad that you wish you can travel to?

Probably Italy or Maldives! I made plans for it but due to the pandemic, it got postponed. So I am hoping to visit these places soon!

14.  If you are given a chance to live in these places, please choose one close to your heart: a house at the beach, a penthouse in the city or a farmhouse cabin in the English countryside?

image1.jpeg

I love beaches so, a house at the beach!

15.  If you are stranded on an island and can only bring three things with you for survival, what would it be?

A satellite phone, big bottle of sunblock and a big pack of matches to start a fire and cook.

16.  If you could live a day in someone’s life, who would it be and why?

I would want to live a day in Priyanka Chopra’s life because I want to experience what she gets to do and how she lives.

17.  What is one thing that a woman should do at least once in her life.

Solo travelling!!! I myself would love to travel solo to a safe country and experience travelling differently.

18.  Other than modelling and acting, what other different career paths you think you would have chosen?

I would probably become a doctor or something. But to be honest, since I started doing acting and modelling at a young age, I didn’t really think of any other career. If this doesn’t work out, there are still many careers related to the industry and being behind the scenes.

19.  What is the best advice ever given to you?

image2.jpeg

The best advice I received was from my mother. It meant “a lioness doesn’t concern herself with the opinions of a sheep”.

20.  Every woman should know how to……

….be unapologetically themselves by ignoring the societal standards when it comes to the stereotypical ways to portray ourselves as women.
