Summer blockbuster movies are coming up and there is one movie that we cannot wait to watch. “Barbie”! Directed by Academy Award nominee Greta Gerwig starring, also Academy Award nominees, Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, the live action “Barbie” movie will release this 20th July in Malaysia, and we are so excited for its premiere that we are already ready with our pink outfits that we will be wearing on the first day.
In a world where everything will be turned into a movie, it is high time that Barbie will be one. While we understand the significance of Barbie to lots of girls and even to grownups, the fact that we will see a real-life “Barbie” movie will be really relatable and exciting. And here is why.
1. Cast is stacked
Besides Margot Robbie as the titular character (a perfect fit by the way) and Ryan Gosling as Ken, there are many other A-list names attached to it which we are looking forward to seeing on screen. Dua Lipa, Emma Mackey, Issa Rae, John Cena, Kate McKinnon, and Simu Liu to name a few with the many other famous actors and actresses playing different versions of Barbie and Ken.
2. In good hands
While the cast are pretty impressive to say the least, the people behind the scenes are similarly talented too. Director Greta Gerwig is an Academy Award nominated screenwriter back when she wrote and directed “Lady Bird” and her writing and real-life romantic partner Noah Baumbach is a two-time Academy Award writer as well. With these two on the steering wheel, you know “Barbie” is going to be a hit.
3. Soundtrack is a bop
Besides acting, Dua Lipa will also sing in the movie. Her single “Dance the Night” is already a smash bop which will be included in the movie’s soundtrack album, and let us tell you, it has a lot of our favourite artists on. Names like Ava Max, Charli XCX, Fifty Fifty, Ice Spice, Lizzo, Nicki Minaj is just barely scratching the surface of the track list on the album. Even Ryan Gosling has a song in there!
4. Everybody can relate
The most important factor why we are excited for this movie though is that we finally get to see our childhood being presented in the big screen. The moment a girl plays with her first Barbie, the scenarios and stories she created; that will all be presented in the movie and we will definitely have the feels when watching them on screen.
