ZALORA Takes You Back to 80’s Fashion

The 80’s are having a major boom right now! A Super Mario Bros. movie just came out and hit big in the box office, American-styled diners are popping out around the city, the Air Jordan 1s are making a huge comeback, and many more 80’s related trend are all over the media now, and that goes for fashion too.

While ZALORA caters to all trends, the 80’s are what we are focusing on lately as they provide styles and fashion pieces that can transport you back in time and relive the 80’s. How should you dress to bring back the 80’s? Here are some tips you can take down for your retro style.

1.     Bold neon colours

The main element you want for your 80’s fashion style is bright, bold, and striking colours. That is why neon was a huge thing back then. If you are worried that you would look like a human bar sign with these neon colours, at least go for something bright and mismatch them to make the colours pop.

2.     All about denim

Denim was never really a fashion piece prior to the 80’s as people just used them as a rugged set of bottoms that you can wear heavily. However, that all changed in the 80’s as more fashion-minded designers, stylists, and fashionistas alike utilised the denim fashion. Double denim was a thing back then; denim was also a material used other than just jeans.

3.     Fanny packs were peak accessories

You hate to admit it but yes, fanny packs were very popular in this era. Sure, everybody agrees fanny packs look unstylish now (even the crossbody bag boom can’t save it), but if you want to be looking like you came straight out of the 80’s, you have to have a fanny pack belted right around your waist. Sorry but we do not make the rules here.
