What to Wear to Your Next Tea Garden Party

It is not common to be invited to a garden party. Most people associate parties to the indoors especially here in Malaysia due to our hot forever summer weather, but truthfully, garden parties are not a bad idea. What’s not to like? A lot of green surrounding your view, afternoon tea and small bites, good company.

However, if you were to go to one, how would you dress up? Do you go casual and let loose because you are outside, or do you cover up because of the same matter? There is a lot to unpack here, so let us recommend you some of our favourite clothing pieces you can wear to your next tea garden party.

1.     As casual as you can

Garden tea parties usually call for a casual dress code. Unless there is a specific theme to it, you can go wearing your favourite t-shirt and a pair of jeans, and you would probably suit the setting, nonetheless. If you want to spice it up a little, overalls are a cute addition to your outfit as it gives off an outdoorsy vibe to your look.

2.     Reveal some skin

Since garden parties usually take place outside, now is the time to wear more revealing clothes and blame the Malaysian weather as an excuse. We like a nice mini cropped blazer on top of a bralette as your garden party look, but it is up to your own creativity to show off a little skin while still being suitably dressed to the occasion.

3.     Default dresses

If all else fails, a nice dress is a good default to wear to your garden tea party. It is simple, cute, and definitely suits the summer vibe that you are going for. Wear one in bright colours too to really pop out.

4.     A picnic basket as accessory

To accessorise, a picnic basket might just be the additional last touch that you need for your garden outfit. Sure, you do not have to actually bring anything picnic related; it is the aesthetic that counts.
