Blazers and coats are essential to your overall look. Sure, you probably will not be wearing it daily, but it is good to have blazers and coats tucked in your closet for when a look calls for it. However, people often mix up blazers and coats.
Blazers and coats are almost identical to each other, but both have specific uses that only one of each can function. So, we are going to breakdown the differences between a blazer and a coat in hopes that you will not make a fashion mistake involving these two beautiful outerwears.
BLAZERS
1. Worn with unmatched pants
Blazers as you all know looks a little bit like something you would wear as a suit. But, if you wear a blazer as a suit jacket, you are completely wrong about your look. This is because blazers do not come in pairs. You buy a blazer separately than having a full suit on you. That is why a blazer is worn with unmatched pants. It could go well with jeans or even sweatpants if you can pull off that athleisure look.
2. An informal version of a suit jacket
As mentioned, a blazer is an informal version of a suit jacket. So, you do not need to match the colours of your pants. Go crazy with it! The common or more historically accurate colour would be navy or bright red, but since we are living in the modern world, there is nothing wrong with adding more colours to your look.
COATS
1. Entirely informal
Contrast to blazers, coats are entirely informal. That is why it looks easy, the material is more relaxed comparing to a smooth blazer or suit jacket, and it can be worn with literally everything you own. It is almost like your regular jacket only this time, it has somewhat of a grown-up feel to it.
2. Comes in earthy colours
For coats, earthy colours like brown or tan are usually the most common choice of the bunch. And it works well with everything else too. But if you are more into colours, get some with crazy hues to give variation to your look.
